Salary Range:

  • Competitive salary range of $65,000 to $85,000 per year. Candidates with exceptional experience will have their additional pay requirements considered.

Job Title: Class A Inspector

Location: Frederick, CO

Job Description: Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Class A Inspector to ensure the quality and precision of their metal stamped products. This position plays a critical role in maintaining high-quality standards, verifying compliance with specifications, and supporting continuous improvement efforts within the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspection and Quality Control:

  • Dimensional Inspection:

  • Measure dimensions of stamped parts using tools such as calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).

  • Ensure parts meet specified tolerances and standards.

  • Visual Inspection:

  • Check for surface defects like cracks, burrs, scratches, and other imperfections.

  • Inspect for correct alignment, shape, and overall appearance.

  • Material Verification:

  • Confirm the use of correct materials according to specifications and certifications.

  • Verify material properties such as hardness and thickness.

  • First Article Inspection (FAI):

  • Conduct thorough inspections on initial samples from new production runs to validate process and tooling accuracy.

  • Document findings and approve parts for mass production if they meet all criteria.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Record Keeping:

  • Maintain detailed inspection records and reports, documenting measurements, defects, and any deviations from specifications.

  • Use software tools for data entry and analysis to track quality trends and issues.

  • Non-Conformance Reporting:

  • Identify and document non-conforming products.

  • Work with production and engineering teams to address and rectify quality issues.

  • Process Improvement:

  • Root Cause Analysis:

  • Participate in root cause analysis for recurring quality issues.

  • Suggest corrective actions and improvements to prevent defects.

  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):

  • Help develop and update inspection procedures and standards.

  • Ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards.

  • Communication and Collaboration:

  • Interdepartmental Coordination:

  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality assurance teams to resolve quality issues.

  • Provide feedback and guidance to production operators to enhance product quality.

  • Training:

  • Train and mentor junior inspectors or new employees on inspection techniques and quality standards.

  • Regulatory Compliance:

  • Adherence to Standards:

  • Ensure all inspection activities comply with industry standards (such as ISO, ASME) and customer-specific requirements.

  • Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits.

  • Equipment Maintenance:

  • Calibration:

  • Ensure inspection equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.

  • Report any equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs or replacements.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree preferred.

  • At least 10 years of experience in the metal stamping/fabrication industries.

  • Comprehensive understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5m-1994).

  • Minimum 7 years of experience with ISO quality standards.

  • Strong knowledge of measurement tools and inspection techniques.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under tight deadlines.
