City of Fraser Van Driver in Fraser, Michigan

Job Duties:

  • Transports individuals and goods in a safe manner to and from designated sites as assigned.
  • Operates assigned vehicles designed to carry up to nineteen (19) passengers.
  • Completes a pre-inspection prior to each vehicle operation and reports defects immediately to the supervisor.
  • Maintains accurate transport records, inspection forms and other paperwork as required.
  • Assists passengers with entering and exiting the vehicle as appropriate.
  • Operates vehicle in a safe manner observing all traffic laws.
  • Ensures assigned vehicle is clean and in proper operating condition following established guidelines.
  • Assists Recreation staff as necessary to ensure safe transport of participants.
  • Maintains positive and professional interpersonal relationships and always represents the best interests of the city.
  • Participates in safety training sessions as necessary.

Physical Demands:

  • Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee may be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 20 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner.
  • Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions.
  • Be physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • As a condition of employment, an employee in this classification must possess and maintain a current Commercial Driver's License and appropriate endorsements.
  • Must be able to pass state specified physical exam annually.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with co-workers, clients, and members of the public.
  • Ability to conduct oneself with tact and courtesy.
