Southwestern Community College Math Tutor - PT - LBJ Job Corps/Macon County in Franklin, North Carolina
POSITION: Math Tutor DEPARTMENT: LBJ Job Corps, Franklin, NC PAY:$19.19/hr FLSA: Part Time
Assignment: An opening for a math tutor at LBJ, day class. Tutor will provide instructional support to students in essential mathematics, introductory algebra and geometry to prepare them for the High School Equivalency test. Tutoring will be done in a small group setting or one-on-one.
Qualifications:
- Enjoy working with adult learners and understand the different teaching principles needed to engage adults in the learning process.
- Maintain accurate records
- Assist in student retention
- Submit all college reports in an accurate timely fashion
- Attend instructor meetings as scheduled
- Be responsible for professional development and maintaining professional competence
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and others
Education:
- Bachelor's degree (or currently working toward degree)
- Strong math background and skills
- Prefer candidate to have prior teaching experience
