BI Specialist – Clinical Research Applications System Administrator
Overview:
The BI Specialist – Clinical Research Applications will support and maintain clinical research applications, ensuring their reliability, security, and optimal performance. This role is crucial for maintaining research workflows, compliance, and data integrity within Parkview Health. The ideal candidate has strong system administration experience, familiarity with SQL, and preferably a background in clinical research or medical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain clinical research applications, including REDCap, Florence, OnCore, and Epic.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system availability and security.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and system access based on compliance requirements.
Collaborate with research teams and IT staff to optimize application functionality and workflow.
Perform system updates, patches, and upgrades while ensuring minimal downtime.
Maintain data integrity, backups, and disaster recovery strategies for research applications.
Write and optimize SQL queries to generate reports, extract data, and support research needs.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, IRB regulations, and other applicable research security standards.
Document system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and standard operating procedures.
Provide technical support and training to research teams and end-users.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required.
Proven experience as a System Administrator in a healthcare, research, or non-profit setting.
Strong knowledge of SQL writing for reporting and data management.
Familiarity with REDCap, Florence, OnCore, Epic, or similar research/medical applications.
Experience with Windows and Linux-based servers, networking protocols, and security best practices.
Understanding of data privacy regulations (HIPAA, IRB, FDA 21 CFR Part 11).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in clinical research or medical system administration.
Experience working in a non-profit healthcare environment.
Knowledge of cloud-based environments (AWS, Azure) and automation tools (Ansible, PowerShell, Bash).
Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or RHCSA.
Work Environment:
Remote
On-call availability for critical system issues.
Collaborative work with IT, research teams, and healthcare professionals.
