The primary purpose of this position is to provide Laundry and Dry Cleaning services to DoD units to support their missions. Hourly Salary Range: $19.86 - $23.16 Responsibilities Receive laundry and dry cleaning of bulk and individual customers; sort, count and place prescribed number of bulk items in trucks/baskets for forwarding to washers. Marks items using operating marking machine. Compares tickets to clothes and annotates corrections on tickets concerning the number and type of items, colors, stains, holes, missing buttons, etc. Assembles items for return to customer. Folds and compares against non-press copy of the ticket to ensure completeness; places the items in laundry bags or wraps and replaces them into sorting bins. Assembles laundry and dry cleaning for shipping. Receives items; sorts appropriately, folds and compares against turn in documents and/or cash tickets to ensure accuracy. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-7300 Laundry, Dry Cleaning, and Pressing Family.. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Ability to be reliable and dependable as a laundry worker. (screen-out) 2. Ability to handle weights and do manual tasks associated with the laundry, dry cleaning/pressing trade. 3. Ability to follow oral and written directions to perform tasks associated with the laundry/dry cleaning trade. 4. Ability to work with others in a laundry/dry clean operation. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires continuous standing and walking on concrete floors and frequent moving and bending. Most tasks require quick hand and arm movements. Continually handles weights up to 25 pounds such as bundles of laundry; occasionally may lift items up to 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in an extremely noisy and usually hot and humid environment. Work in the receiving area may involve exposure to cold weather. Is exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises from carts or machinery. Exposed to more serious injury from dropping sling loads, back strains and falls on slippery floors. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
