What you’ll do

We’re looking for a Robotics Software Support Engineer to join the ArcBest Technologies team. The Robotics Software Support Engineer plays a crucial role in providing technical assistance and support to robotics software engineers. With a focus on collaboration and coordination, this position serves as a bridge between software development teams, testing teams, and customer success teams, ensuring smooth communication and resolution of issues to optimize the performance and reliability of robotics software solutions.

Your contribution may include:

  • Show passion for learning new technology and processes.

  • Frequently update the knowledge base for troubleshooting issues encountered at the customer site and testing.

  • Test, maintain, and support third-party software solutions.

  • Collaborate with customer success, testing, and robotics software teams to understand customer-reported issues and provide technical assistance and support in diagnosing and resolving software-related problems.

  • Assist in the setup and configuration of testing environments, including hardware and software components, to facilitate comprehensive testing of robotic software stacks.

  • Work closely with testing teams and other stakeholders to triage and prioritize reported issues, ensuring timely resolution and mitigation of software defects and bugs.

  • Help document the setup changes to the upfit team for a smooth bring-up process.

  • Stay informed about industry best practices, tools, and methodologies related to software testing and quality assurance in the field of robotics, and recommend improvements or enhancements as needed.

  • Execute test plans and procedures to validate the functionality, performance, and reliability of robotic software solutions, identifying and documenting any issues or anomalies encountered during testing.

  • Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support to robotics software engineers, helping to diagnose and debug issues related to software performance, compatibility, and functionality.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of testing frameworks, tools, and processes to streamline testing activities and improve efficiency and effectiveness

  • Successful candidates will exhibit a consulting mindset, a deep sense of accountability, meticulous attention to detail, a fervor for software and operational issue resolution, expertise in technical support, and a collaborative spirit within the Autonomy team.

  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

As a Robotics Software Support Engineer, you will be a member of the ArcBest Technologies Intralogistics team in Fort Smith, AR. Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on workload.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechatronics, or Robotics, preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.

Experience: One year of experience in either software development or technical support. One year of experience in managing and supporting Windows and Linux operating environments.

Additional Requirements:

  • Proficient in conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for intricate system issues.

  • Working knowledge of ROS/ROS2, version control, and networks (such as DNS, DHCP, SSL, OSI Model, and TCP/IP) is preferred.

  • Possess a mix of technical prowess and adeptness in supporting our Autonomy system.

  • This role necessitates a unique blend of adaptability, problem-solving acumen, inventive thinking, project management skills, and a strong drive.
