We are seeking candidates for exciting and rewarding Millwright /Industrial Mechanic RAP (Registered Apprentice Program) student placement available at our facility in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.

RAP students will participate in a 5 month work term (Sept.- Jan.) offering hands-on work experience in our chemical plants and will be indentured into the Alberta Registered Apprenticeship Program.  During the program, RAP students will receive a wage.

About you and this role- What you would do in this role.

Millwright/Industrial Mechanic install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair process and mechanical equipment used in industrial processing. The mechanical equipment may include pumps, various types of compressors, blowers, fans, gearboxes, mixers and agitators

Responsibilities- Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would learn about in this role.

  • Maintaining and repairing all types of mechanical equipment.

  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and replacing defective equipment parts.

  • Reading blueprints and design drawings.

  • Mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.

  • Procedure use - this includes field use, review, revision, and development of procedures.

Qualifications -Required education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves).

  • MUST work with local RAP Coordinator or school counsellor to confirm eligibility to RAP program and that education requirements for the trade entrance are part of schooling plan.

  • All roles require a current, valid Canadian driver's license.  Please note that before being cleared to report to work, you will be required to successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Records check to verify the status of your driver’s license.

  • A minimum requirement for this Canadian based position is the ability to work legally in Canada.

      

Willing and able to meet the physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Be able to climb ladders/stairs and work at heights.

  • Be able to work in tight or closed-in spaces.

  • Essential functions of this position may require, among other things, that the employee use particular types of equipment -- such as on-site safety equipment that has specific weight limitations whereby the individual’s own weight, plus the weight of tools and other items and materials, must not exceed a certain threshold.  (For example, some types of safety equipment may be rated for a maximum weight limit of 300 pounds total.)
