Position Summary

Reporting to the Supervisor, Instrumentation, the Instrumentation Mechanic will be accountable for contributing to the ongoing maintenance in the nickel, cobalt, leach, utilities and fertilizer plants within the Sherritt Metals refinery. This position is based out of our Fort Saskatchewan plant site.

Accountabilities

  • Demonstrated experience calibrating and servicing instruments and control valves.

  • Ability to work regular/periodic shift work and call outs.

  • Ability to work in a team environment, consult with and advise process operators, and to pay careful attention to details.

    Qualifications and Skills

  • Certified Journeyperson Technician. An Instrumentation Engineering Technology Diploma is considered an asset.

  • 5+ years industrial experience is considered an asset.

  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (ABB Advant, ABB Symphony, Emerson DeltaV) considered an asset.

  • Experience with loop tuning and process control optimization considered an asset.

  • Good mathematical, scientific, mechanical, and logical reasoning abilities.

  • Safety conscious attitude.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • A desire to keep up-to-date with technological developments in the field .
