Description

The purpose of this class within the public safety technical services organization is to perform a variety of technical support duties in an assigned functional area for a department.

This class works under general supervision, according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains and monitors mobile data management platform for ioS devices, including deployment of applications, management of inventory, and updates to software.

  • Reviews and analyzes programs, applications, desktops, and network systems; provides assistance and technical support to information system users; assists in the preparation of various forms, reports, correspondence, analysis, logs, reviews, or other documents; troubleshoots communication programming systems between field and office systems.

  • Performs complex queries and database manipulations often in an SQL database environment on a routine and ad-hoc basis.

  • Develops processes, applications or APIs using ColdFusion, PHP, or other languages to extract and transform data for public safety computer aided dispatch systems and other third-party applications' for consumption or repository.

  • Provides editing, mapping and spatial analysis services and cartographic products and reports using tools including ArcView, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, ArcReader, and ArcInfo.

  • Performs network administration; evaluates network on availability, performance, and security with monitoring and analysis; installs, configures and performs maintenance; provides application support.

  • Performs related work as assigned.

Education, Experience, Licensing

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires current enrollment and attendance in courses at an accredited high school, college or university and completion of the 10th grade.

  • No prior experience is required.

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record is required.

Students MUST submit the items listed below to be considered for an Intern position:

  • Three (3) letters of recommendation (from teachers, coaches, clergy, guidance counselors, employers, etc.)

  • Current school transcript and any past transcript(s) if a degree was earned.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college in computer science, mathematics, physics, information technology, or closely related field and two years information technology, database management, software configuration and troubleshooting or closely related experience.
