SOLUTE Careers 1359 - Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) in Fort Liberty, North Carolina

Sigma Defense is seeking an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to lead implementation and sustainment of government-mandated Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) system, which is comprised of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Security Center, Nessus Scanner and the Nessus Network Monitor. ACAS will provide automated network vulnerability scanning, configuration assessment and network discovery.

Responsibilities include technical and functional requirements gathering, completing design documentation and installation, configuration, and sustainment of the solution.

Requirements

  • 10 - 15 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience using Remedy software (or similar tool) to track incidents and service requests through the full lifecycle.

  • Infrastructure Security Vulnerability Management Operations T2 - Intermediate level.

  • Integrated Security Risk Management T2 - Intermediate level.

  • 3+ years of experience in building and configuring ACAS servers.

  • DoD Directive 8140.01, Cyberspace Workforce Management, NIST 800 Special Publications, Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), and knowledge of current authorization practices - particularly within the DoD.

  • Experience in creating and maintaining the security configuration baselines for Windows and Linux platforms, networking equipment, cloud technologies, and custom applications (i.e., Minimum Benchmarks: CIS, STIGS).

  • Must meet position and certification requirements outlined in DoD Directive 8570.01 M for Information Assurance Management Level II (IAM Level II).

  • DoD 8140 (671) System Testing & Evaluation Specialist - Intermediate level.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work on multi-functional teams.

  • Ability to serve as a principal advisor on all matters, technical and otherwise, involving the security of an IS.

  • Ability to influence events and achieve goals. Must be a proactive self-starter, going beyond specific job responsibilities to ensure goals are achieved and exceeded.

  • Travel as necessary for customer projects, technology expositions, and corporate meetings.

  • Ability to work in an office and lab environment with minimal physical requirements.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in a large Data Center.

  • Foundation certification (not required to start but will be expected to attain within the first six months of employment).

  • Experience with SolarWinds security event manager.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

  • Familiarity with eMASS - USSOCOM ENTERPRISE MISSION ASSURANCE SUPPORT SERVICES platform.

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of multiple technology infrastructures.

Personnel Clearance Level:

  • Candidate must possess an active, DoD issued Secret security clearance.

  • A clearance will be sponsored for the right candidate.

Education Requirements:

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Cybersecurity or similar field of study.

Essential Job Duties (not all inclusive):

  • Provide subject matter expertise, advise, and assistance in the planning, implementation, and accreditation of technology and solutions.

  • Manage remediation efforts and report on the status of control deficiencies.

  • Provide security expertise to business units and key stakeholders.

  • Provide timely status updates and reporting on assessments and assigned projects.

  • Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network engineers.

  • Monitor and manage system resources including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency.

  • Perform systems security administration functions, including creating user profiles and accounts.

  • Other duties may include setting up administrator accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system-wide software and allocating mass storage space.

  • Interact with users and evaluate vendor products.

  • Make recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinate installation, and provide backup recovery.

  • Develop and monitor policies and standards for allocation-related to the use of computing resources.

  • May be assigned responsibility for less experienced staff.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $155,000 annually.
