PROGRAM SUMMARY
The MISS program is a comprehensive initiative aimed at supporting the U.S. Department of State’s operations in Iraq. In addition to providing ongoing base operations and Life Support Services, KBR will provide differentiated advisory and consultancy capabilities to the Iraqi Government with a focus on creating an effective program environment to support delivery of strategic economic planning, strategy development, feasibility studies, technical reviews and large-scale project management. Under this contract KBR will provide facility maintenance, procurement, critical supply functions, along with food services, base camp operations, renovations, construction, and medical services.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Master Electrician Supervisor will be based on site in Iraq and will serve the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. This position will be responsible for taking ownership of all facility electric and related projects to include maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and related O&M electrical projects. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.
Please note: This position is located in Baghdad, Iraq and is contingent on award.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals.
Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.
Perform work required for the repair, maintenance, installation and modernization of electrical systems for site building's equipment.
Locate and determine electrical malfunctions using test equipment.
Repair malfunctions by such methods as replacing burned out elements, fuses, and replacing defective wiring, cleaning, repairing, or replacing motors.
Test electrical equipment such as motors, heaters and controls for safety and efficiency, using standard test equipment and by observing functions.
Install fixtures, wiring conduits, motors, and other electrical equipment.
Inspect circuits for specified shielding and grounding.
Report any malfunctions or lack of compliance with Statement of Work (SOW) to the Assistant O&M Manager.
Perform inspections and prepares written reports.
Maintain effective, timely, and respectful communication and interaction with other employees and manager and support other organizations.
Perform other administrative tasks when directed, including material ordering, inventory, work scheduling and report preparation.
Responsible for facility custodianship of work area and management of tools, equipment and spare parts for the electrical operation.
Take initiative to analyze a situation and to make frequent technical decisions based on specifications, safety and electrical codes.
Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have an Active U.S. Government Top Secret Security clearance and maintain it for the duration of your employment on this contract. Due to this, you must be a U.S. Citizen to be eligible for this position.
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience as a Master Electrician, 10 years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician with a valid Journeyman Electrician License or Certificate or meet any state licensing board requirements for a Master Electrician license.
Must have previous supervisory experience.
Must have at least 5 years of experience in electrical operations and maintenance services.
Requires at least 3 years of experience in an international environment.
Experienced with splicing Ethyl Propylene Rubber (EPR), cross-linked polyethylene (XLP), and multi-conductor MV cables.
Experience working with 600 Amp dead break connections; 200-amp load-break terminations and heat shrink & cold shrink applications.
Requires cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.
Must have experience working with SOWs, electrical diagrams, and blueprints.
Requires knowledge of applicable U.S. Codes and acceptable trade practices.
Must have knowledge and experience regarding occupational hazards of the electrical trade, related safety precautions and considerable skill required for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Requires a valid passport with at least 12 months of validity and 6 blank pages.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous electrical experience in an OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
Must have good organizational and communication skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions.
Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility is required.
Knowledge of applicable US Codes and acceptable trade practices.
Knowledge and experience regarding occupational hazards of the electrical trade, related safety precautions and considerable skill required for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
Excellent organizational and time management skills are required.
Must have proficiency with the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Requires excellent English communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to facilitate and disseminate information.
Must be able to crouch, bend, reach and crawl in all weather conditions.
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Must be willing to work in austere conditions.
