Platte River Power Authority Maintenance Technician II Or III in Fort Collins, Colorado

JOB SUMMARY Platte River is seeking an experienced industrial mechanic to join the team at our Rawhide Energy Station as a level II or level III maintenance technician. This is an onsite position in Wellington, CO that is regularly scheduled to work Monday through Thursday, 6:30 am - 5:00 pm, and also works nights, weekends and overtime as needed.

Our ideal candidate and newest member of this maintenance team is a team player who takes ownership of and pride in producing high-quality work. Welding experience is a plus, but not required; this skillset can be developed for a maintenance technician who demonstrates aptitude and initiative for achieving the welding certification.

Both level II and level III technicians are subject to random drug screening under DOT requirements as a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) driver and requires a valid driver's license and ability to remain insurable under Platte River's vehicle liability policy. When assigned additional driving or pipeline welding responsibilities, the level III technician may be subject the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and/or subject to the U.S. Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) regulations and random drug screening.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The below duties and responsibilities are listed for placement at level II, and apply to both level II and III technician: - Models the mission, vision, values, and culture of the organization - Partners with other crew to improve organizational effectiveness by identifying strategies to resolve problems, improve team performance and effectiveness and develop people strategies that support the organization's needs - Performs mechanical repairs on boilers, turbines, pumps, fans, combustion turbines, motors, valves, pollution control equipment, as well as coal, ash, and natural gas handling equipment - Accurately documents work procedures, parts used, time used, and tasks performed using computer-based maintenance systems - Clearly communicates equipment status to peers, supervisors, and management - Researches and obtains detailed equipment information to diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints/pipe and instrumentation diagram repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary - Effectively communicates highly technical information using spoken, written, and electronic forms of communication - Repair and fabricate parts using shop tools

Additional responsibility assigned to level III technician: - The ability to work independently with minimal supervision

OTHER FUNCTIONS: - May perform welding with stick, TIG, and MIG method, as needed - Works in tight spaces, on ladders or elevated platforms and in inclement conditions, as needed - Practices safety awareness and complies with safety standards set forth by the industry and the organization - Performs other duties as assigned

Additional functions for level III technician: - Demonstrates leadership responsibilities such as project management and fills in for the supervisor and planner as requested - Performs advanced level system maintenance and troubleshooting

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Required for all technician levels: - Effective verbal and written communication skills - Ability to read, understand, and interpret mechanical prints and technical manuals - Ability to safely work around industrial equipment - Knowledgeable of industry safety procedures and protocol - Experience in rigging, and overhead crane operations - Ability to successfully complete machinery alignment activities - Strong computer, math, reading, and writing skills - Ability to work weeke ds, nights, and overtime as assigned - Initiative to improve knowledge and skills through self-study - Ability to create and maintain positive professional relationships with all personnel

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR LEVEL II TECHNICIANS: - Seven or more years of work experience in large industrial machinery troubleshooting, maintenance and repair (e.g., completion of mechanic's apprenticeship program or 5 years of equivalent experience, plus two years of journey-level mechanic experience) - Completion of a high school diploma or GED - Current valid driver's license and ability to remain insurable under the vehicle liability policy and be subject to random drug screening under DOT requirements as a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) driver

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR LEVEL III TECHNICIANS: - Ten or more years of work experience in large industrial machinery troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair

PREFERRED CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE FOR PLACEMENT AT EITHER LEVEL: - Knowledge of combustion turbines and associated equipment - Welder certification for Section IX of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code - Experience as a machinist using manually operated lathes, milling machines and surface grinders
