General Purpose The Community Development Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO CD) will work to provide counsel, direction, and oversight in serving the lending needs of Low-Moderate Income (LMI) and Minority Borrowers in their efforts to become successful homeowners. These efforts will include, but are not limited to, working with LMI and Minority borrowers, real estate professionals, bank partners, nonprofits, and other centers of influence to generate mortgage loan applications. This position can be based out of any Alpine Bank location, pending available space and the ability to work remotely from home may be an option. This is an Officer level position. Officer level and title will be determined based on experience. Our requirement is that the successful candidate lives in Colorado in order to be more available for physical branch visitations. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Primarily focuses on the cultivation of mortgage loan applications for low and moderate income and minority borrowers or in low and moderate income and minority communities. Works closely with Mortgage Operations and other centers of influence such as real estate professionals, title agencies, nonprofits, and community partners to ensure the mortgage loan experience is as smooth and efficient as possible. As needed, conducts homebuyer seminars and other educational outreach activities to connect directly with low and moderate income and minority prospective homebuyers or low and moderate income and minority majority communities. Develops and deepens relationships with bank partners, community groups, Realtors, as well as other centers of influence. Reports on community relationship involvement and activities in support of bank's Community Reinvestment Act and Community Lending efforts. Performs networking activities through community involvement and attending networking events such as serving on community and center of influence organization boards. Builds rapport with borrowers and lenders while providing coaching and oversight regarding their needs and steps necessary to begin a successful loan application process. Works with individual borrowers on loan applications and obtains required information and documentation from borrowers throughout the loan process in a regulatory compliant manner. Works closely with Loan Operations staff and facilitates successful underwriting and closing of loans. Works with individual lenders to communicate all dynamics of specialty loan programs that may be available to individual borrowers. Actively cross-sells Alpine Bank products and services. Other Duties/Responsibilities Complies with regulations and laws relating to the function of the position. Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the company's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc. Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to the requests from customers, other bank personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy. Conducts all business affairs, both personally and as a representative of the organization according to the high ethical and professional standards established by Alpine Bank. Responsible for adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management, information security and overall safety and soundness. Assumes responsibility for assisting in his/her professional development; adheres to the guidelines and targets established within his/her goals and objectives. Coordinates specific work tasks with ther personnel within the unit or department as well as with other units and departments in order to insure the smooth and efficient flow of information. Complies with established budgets and operates within budgetary constraints. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position. Job Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Ability: Has, or is willing to build, an intimate understanding of mortgage product guidelines and down payment and closing cost assistance programs for the communities the bank serves. Has urgency toward goal achievement and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Reports on sales activities and pipeline as required. Maintains thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, compliance, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations. Must register and maintain current registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS). The NMLS website (mortgage.nationwidelicensingsystem.org) provides the MU4R questions and registration required for employment in this position. Exceptional time management ability is critical, as are communication and organizational skills. May be eligible for Telecommuting. Ability to work independently. Skill in understanding customer needs and delivering unsurpassed customer service. Knowledge of identifying the market and competition. Skill in obtaining information and identifying key issues and relationships relevant to achieving a long-range goal or vision. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, procedures, and guidelines associated with residential real estate mortgages. Proficient negotiation ability to include the ability to explore positions and alternatives to reach outcomes that gain acceptance of all parties.
