We have an immediate opportunity for an Applications Engineer. The Applications Engineer is an engineering position with its primary focus on technical sales and sales support. The secondary focus will be to serve as an engineer during low sales support demand periods. As part of the primary focus the applications engineer ensures that technical requirements are identified, understood and defined to support the quoting and proposal development processes. Specifically, this position collaborates with outside/inside sales, engineering/design, project management, as well as manufacturing and installation teams to develop Rough Order Magnitude (ROM) and Scope of Work (SOW) solutions, finishes proposal generation and contract building. The position requires interaction with customers as well as all levels ofFruit & Vegetable sales and general management. The Application Engineer is responsible for developing an in-depth understanding of each customer's technical requirements and uses this knowledge to develop scope of work as an input to the qualifying and estimating process. Responsibilities: Function as an engineer providing technical sales support by interacting with customers to define scope of work and to understand their needs vs wants Serve as a representative for JBT Corporation's portfolio of products and services as well as be familiar with JBT’s entire portfolio of products and services to support the “One JBT” philosophy Prepare and present technical presentations outlining JBT Corporation's current and future capabilities Leverage technical knowledge and employ sales savvy to help secure the sales opportunity through final customer acceptance Develop engineering cost estimates and engineering proposals Travel regularly, sometimes on short notice, to customer locations; trade shows, etc. (estimate 50%). Collaborate with sales for updating the C.R.M. (Customer Relationship Software) for: Call & Appointment History Future project opportunities Quote activity with probability of success estimates Status of Sales Opportunities Obtain market intelligence and customer feedback to suggest potential improvements to the manufacturing, estimating and sales & marketing processes Work closely with engineering/design, manufacturing & installation estimating teams to ensure efficient flow of information through the entire pre-sale process Identify and resolve customers’ technical concerns with the support of appropriate team members/departments. Collaborate with engineering/design teams in the development of technical roadmaps that support current markets, penetrate other markets, in support of revenue growth goals as directed by JBT Corporation's Leadership team Flex into the applicable engineering role during low sales support demand periods Other duties as assigned. Skills/Knowledge Requirements: Solid background and understanding of Fruit & Vegetables industry alongside food, (knowledgeable) dairy and beverage processing systems including mixing, blending, sanitary process piping design, heat exchangers, kettle and cooking technologies and design Technical design capabilities including ability to read, develop, and understand P&ID’s, Blueprints, process flow data and similar technical documents Ability to develop and review technical written specifications Strong knowledge of JBT Corporation's capabilities / technologies including emerging market concepts and processes Experience in developing proposals and presenting technical solutions as part of the sales process Excellent listening, planning, organizational, presentation and communications skills Ability to represent JBT Corporation's professionally with customers and at trade shows, identifying and developing contacts to increase the company’s customer base Why work at JBT ... Qualifications: A Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Engineering or similar degree or field experience with technical sales or estimating background is preferred. A proven track record of success in a directly/closely related field.
