Actalent Industrial Engineer in Florence, Kentucky

Seeking an entry level engineer for a 2-4 month internship. The candidates need to be able to start within in 1-3 weeks.

  • Must be able to work 40 hours a week on first shift (they could hire someone still in school as long as they can commit to the hours) – this could be looked at as another internship/co-op opportunity

Job Description

The Industrial Engineer will support the Industrial Engineering Department in planning, designing, implementing, and managing integrated production and service delivery systems. The role assures performance, reliability, maintainability, schedule adherence, and cost control within the production site. The main focus will be conducting studies to determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow while recommending methods for maximum utilization of production equipment and personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and continuously improve daily quality and efficiency performance for assigned areas.

  • Design and procure production tooling, processing equipment, and workstations.

  • Coordinate layout and workstation move activities.

  • Prepare time estimates for proposed projects and evaluate time factors.

  • Minimize changeover time by ensuring programs use common set-ups where possible.

  • Verify that machine maintenance is performed on schedule.

  • Reduce machine-generated scrap by monitoring machine management data and taking corrective action to improve or correct operations.

  • Reduce manual assembly scrap by monitoring quality data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.

  • Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by the supervisor.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelors in Engineering

  • At least one co-op or internship experience within industrial engineering or process engineering

  • Familiarity with developing SOP, Work Instructions, and Visual Aids

Work Environment

The position operates on the 1st shift from 7:00am to 4:00pm, with 80% of the time spent behind a desk and 20% on the floor. If interested in a full-time position, the role may require working a 24-hour engineering coverage shift, which involves 12-hour shifts on a 3 on/3 off and 4 on/4 off schedule.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $34.00/hr.
