Century Tool & Gage, LLC Benching Technician in Fenton, Michigan

POSITION/TITLE: Benching Technician

DEPARTMENT: Operations

REPORTS TO: Director of Manufacturing

POSITION SUMMARY: Bench tool surface, assembly and disassembly of tools as per direction from supervisor. Follow basic MATH data drawings to ensure tools are configured properly for the customer's process.

NATURE OF ASSIGNMENTS / DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with and support Operations to ensure molds are production ready by preparing and/or repairing molds per company and customer specifications and guidelines.
  • Perform mold preventive maintenance in coordination with production scheduling to minimize in-press failures and production run interruptions.
  • Perform polishing and benching as needed.
  • Spot tools in press to ensure proper shear/shut off
  • Accurately use gauges, calipers, etc. to check molds, fixtures, and jig quality.
  • Work on special projects when needed.
  • Assist and communicate with key personnel regarding status of mold repairs.
  • Properly log time in/operation time and time out for each job.
  • Maintain and promote a safe and hazard free work environment.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines. This includes wearing personal protective equipment as required (ie: eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, etc.)
  • Be capable of working overtime as required and directed by Manager/Supervisor.
  • Travel to customer to repair/improve tools.
  • Insure a clean and safe work cell is maintained and follow 5S practices
  • Performs a variety of tasks, within the department to ensure company goals are met.
  • Work outside the department to assist company to meet customer goals and deadlines.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC

  • NC Shop experience
  • Mechanical knowledge
  • Basic fabrication skills
  • Able to maintain confidential information

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times. Must be able to stand, kneel, bend, and climb, in order to work on equipment. Must be able to use tools to perform repairs. Must be able to talk, walk, stand, and sit an office environment. Must be able to travel to customer facilities when needed.

Regular Work Schedule Monday thru Friday 6:00am to 4:30pm, some Saturday hours 6:00am to 12:00pm
