Farmingdale State College is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mac Specialist to join our Information Technology team. The Mac Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting and maintaining the Macintosh computing environment across campus, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for students, faculty, and staff. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of Mac operating systems, hardware, and software, and will provide technical support, troubleshooting, and training to users.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert technical support for Macintosh users, addressing hardware and software issues promptly and efficiently.

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems, including system crashes, application errors, and connectivity issues.

  • Manage the deployment of Macintosh computers, ensuring proper setup, configuration, and integration into the college's network.

  • Collaborate with other IT professionals to implement standard configurations and ensure consistency across all Mac devices.

  • Install, configure, and update software applications on Mac computers, ensuring compatibility and security.

  • Monitor software updates and implement patches to maintain a secure and up-to-date computing environment.

  • Implement and enforce security policies to protect Macintosh systems from potential threats.

  • Stay informed about the latest security trends and proactively address vulnerabilities in the Mac environment.

  • Collaborate with other IT team members to provide seamless support across various platforms.

    Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in supporting Macintosh environments in an enterprise or educational setting.

  • In-depth knowledge of Mac OS, hardware components, and software applications.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Apple Certification such as Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) or Apple Certified Mac Technician (ACMT).

  • JAMF MDM experience.

  • Working knowledge of SCCM, InTune or other MDM solution.

  • Experience working with Terminal and creating /modifying Shell, Python, and AppleScript scripts to achieve automation and endpoint configuration.

    Additional Information:

This is a full-time UUP position.

  • For the first 10 working days, beginning Thursday, May 9, 2024, and ending Wednesday, May 22, 2024, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

  • CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Friday, June 7, 2024

  • SALARY: $55,000 + $3,087 in downstate location pay = $58,087 Total Compensation.
