Applications received in response to this announcement will be used to fill substitute dormitory staff (Human Services Technician) vacancies at the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind (MSAB) for the 2024-2025 school year.
Substitutes are called as needed to fill behind absent staff. This position is not a full/part time position and is not benefit eligible.
Applicants submitting resumes to this announcement will be in a pool of candidates considered throughout the school year for substitute Human Services Technician positions as they become available. Shifts may be afternoon, evening or overnight.
This position provides direct care supervision of students in the residential dormitories on the Academy for the Blind campus.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge or experience working with students in an educational and/or dormitory setting as a caregiver.
Ability to read and write English sufficient to understand and follow directions and to maintain records and documentation.
Human relations skills sufficient to establish rapport with and provide direction to residential students.
Demonstrated knowledge in writing basic reports, do basic arithmetic, and read and interpret charts and graphs
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience/background working with blind/visually impaired students.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance.
Ability to perform emergency procedures and personal safety techniques.
Must be able to walk/stand for at least eight hours.

This position requires successful completion of the following:
