GOAL: Provide professional counseling services to alcohol and drug clients and their families and associates.

SUPERVISION: Works under the general guidelines and direction of the team leader.

DUTIES:

1. Provides counseling as primary therapist or co-therapist in the following area: marital counseling, individual counseling, family therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention and parent training.

2. Coordinate with other community agencies and provides consultation and education to professional and community groups, i.e. hospital, law enforcement, public health and schools.

3. Provide emergency counseling to clients and emergency consultation to agencies.

4. Participates in administrative activities such as record keeping, staff meetings, program planning, in-service and program development. Participates in community action groups and committees as requested. 

5. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

1. Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university or two (2) years full time employment in a related alcohol and drug position.

2. Licensure in the State of Utah in social work, psychology, nursing, or related field.

3. Ability to handle moderate physical activity.

4. Ability to drive and maintain valid Utah driver's license.

5. Ability to counsel, motivate, and educate clients in keeping with standards of current alcohol and drug knowledge.

6. Ability to coordinate with other professionals and agencies in behalf of clients.

7. Ability to maintain records and reports according to current treatment standards.
