SNOW COLLEGE Director of Bands in EPHRAIM, Utah

Description

The Horne School of Music is located on the Ephraim, Utah campus of Snow College. Although a part of a community college, the Horne School of Music offers a Bachelor of Music with Emphasis in Commercial Music (BMCM) degree to over 200 matriculated music students. Snow College BMCM graduates may also complete the requirements for K-12 music teaching licensure through our unique partnership with the Weber State University College of Education. The Horne School of Music at Snow College seeks an energetic and dynamic musician to provide leadership for our band area. The ideal candidate will (1) be passionate about student centered music education, (2) demonstrate a high level of achievement as an instrumental conductor, (3) be able to articulate a vision for the future of Snow College Bands, (4) be an enthusiastic recruiter, and (4) provide committee members with a demonstrated record of success in producing high quality ensemble experiences for students.

Qualifications
  • Masters degree in music required, DMA/PhD preferred.
  • Demonstrated record of achievement as a band director.
  • Demonstrated excellence and artistry as a conductor.
  • Excellent inter-personal, and collaborative skills.
  • Music education preferred as a secondary area of expertise.

     

Major Responsibilities/Duties
  • Teach the equivalent of 15 hours per semester
  • Conduct the Snow College Wind Symphony and Symphonic Bands
  • Provide leadership and supervision to student conductors of the Badger Pep Bands
  • Teach Beginning and Advanced Conducting
  • Teach in additional area(s) of specialization where applicable
  • Support Music department recruitment efforts
