Job Title: DEATS TechnicianJob Description
Performs a wide range of analytical tasks related to the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical power distribution facilities. Projects include design of distribution facilities (serving residential, commercial, and small industrial customers), relocation of existing distribution facilities, and distribution system improvements such as minor expansions, conversions, and rebuilds.
Responsibilities
Create work orders, job sketches, material lists, cost estimates, and update GIS systems for new jobs, property damage, and correction of errors to facilities utilizing field information and data furnished by others.
Apply Engineering Guides, Construction Standards, National Electric Safety Code, NBIC, and ASME.
Provide support for emergency restoration efforts.
Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding information needed for projects.
Essential Skills
Electrical drafting
Electrical design
Electrical engineering technology
Proficiency in AutoCAD, CAD software, Solidworks, and MicroStation
Associate's or Engineering Degree
Strong math aptitude (6 hours of college math required)
Electrical/electronics knowledge (6 hours of electrical/electronics/physics college coursework required)
Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing
Organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Computer skills with the ability to use CAD software - 2D
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with team members, leaders, and customers
Work Environment
Office environment requiring extensive computer work. Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with potential for overtime. The role requires the ability to work in an outdoor environment, traverse rough terrain, and exposure to hazardous conditions and extreme weather. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn. The position requires availability for call-outs, storm damage response, and travel, including overnight stays. Physical requirements include dexterity to use small hand tools, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 lbs., performing repetitive motions, and the ability to crouch, kneel, squat, bend, stoop, and reach in various directions.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $28.00
