Actalent Quality Assurance Technician - Food Science in Elk River, Minnesota
Job Title: Quality TechnicianJob Description
As a Quality Technician, you will be responsible for monitoring product quality and ensuring all produced items meet food safety and quality policies and standards. You will also assist with the execution of various quality-related tasks.
Responsibilities
Ensure all samples are submitted to 3rd party labs as needed for both product and environmental testing.
Conduct regular quality checks to ensure finished goods meet product specifications.
Respond to any out-of-specification products on the floor.
Monitor in-progress production and changeovers to ensure no risk of comingling products.
Maintain the facility by auditing processes and policy execution.
Assist in the execution of Food Safety Audits.
Provide coaching on non-compliance with GMPs or PPE policy.
Be knowledgeable of the lot coding system and expiration dates; support production by verifying correct printed material.
Verify execution of quality procedures to ensure no contamination of the product by foreign material, including brine.
Support production employees with paperwork activities ensuring paperwork is completed correctly and fully.
Support food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Monitor temperatures of locations and raw materials.
Oversee document retention policy.
Handle restoration/environmental cleaning when needed.
Use ATP swabbing to verify the effectiveness of SSOP execution.
Complete projects or other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor.
Essential Skills
Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Working knowledge of food safety, personal hygiene, and proper use of GMP apparel.
Minimum of 6 months of experience in the food, pharma, or chemical/consumer quality industry if no completed Bachelor's degree.
Basic understanding of food safety and product quality.
Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
Ability to understand and execute food safety policies and regulations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to follow specific written procedures and forms.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Food Science, Nutrition, Dairy Science, or related degree (if no prior experience).
Food production QA/QC experience preferred.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work on the production floor and around heavy machinery.
Excellent attention to detail.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
