Fortive Corporation Indirect Buyer in Elizabethtown, North Carolina

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Indirect Commodity Buyer to join our dynamic procurement team at our Elizabethtown, NC manufacturing plant. The Indirect Commodity Buyer will be responsible for the procurement of indirect goods and services essential to our operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, negotiation, and supply chain management, with a focus on indirect commodities. This is an onsite role in Elizabethtown NC

Responsibilities:

  • Execute sourcing strategies for indirect commodities, including but not limited to MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) supplies, office supplies, utilities, facilities management services, and other outside services.

  • Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure the highest standards of quality, cost, and delivery performance.

  • Work closely with Fortive indirect commodity team and leverage Fortive contracts to deliver savings.

  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements with suppliers to achieve cost savings, while maintaining quality and service levels.

  • Monitor and analyze commodity markets, trends, and pricing to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.

  • Manage the procurement process from requisition to payment, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, quality issues, and supplier performance.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, and engineering teams, to understand their requirements and provide strategic sourcing solutions.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using FBS tools in procurement processes, supplier performance, and cost optimization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.

  • Proven experience 3-5 year in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing environment managing indirect commodity.

  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to drive cost savings and value-added opportunities.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in using procurement software and tools.

  • Knowledge of contract management principles and legal aspects of procurement.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Certification in procurement (e.g., CSCP, CPM) is desirable.
