Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) seeks a Structural Design Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, California. This is a chance to be a part of a highly skilled, cutting-edge team that is passionate about innovation and driven to push the boundaries of technology.

The bus and payload structures design team support a diverse range of satellite customers across various technology domains, fostering a dynamic and fast-paced development environment. Our portfolio includes groundbreaking platforms and technologies, such as the O3B mPOWER, the world's first commercial non-geostationary orbit satellite constellation.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and documentation structural requirements to establish the bus and payload design

  • Support the development, maintenance or modification of system installation and detail designs/proposals to provide design documentation to downstream groups

  • Perform and document analyses to validate and verify requirements and specifications are met

  • Contribute to supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals

  • Support structure designs/proposals standards to provide installation and detail documentation

  • Trains others

  • Work under general direction

To meet security standards and protocols, all work is performed onsite in El Segundo, CA.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 1+ or more years of experience in an engineering role

  • 1+ or more years of experience with structural design

  • 1+ or more years of experience with Creo

  • 1+ or more years of experience and/or education in mechanical CAD design

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):

  • 3+ or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5+ or more years of CAD experience that includes designing Composite honeycomb panels

  • Model based definition experience

  • Active Top Secret security clearance

Typical Education & Experience:

Associate:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Experienced:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range, Associate (Level 2): $80,750 - $109,250

Summary pay range, Experienced (Level 3): $96,050 – $129,950
