Description
We are looking for a dynamic Payroll Accountant to join our team in El Paso, Texas. This role primarily focuses on conducting ongoing research on various payroll rules, laws and employee benefits in Texas and New Mexico, and handling all aspects of client insurance benefit plans. You will also be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and consistency of critical benefits data, and conducting internal audits, analysis, and reconciliations.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct ongoing research to understand Wage & Hour Laws, The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Equal Pay Act, Overtime rules for New Mexico and Texas, under GAAP rules under ERISA and COBRA.
• Conduct technical research on various Payroll Rules, Payroll tax laws, Employee Group Benefits in Texas and New Mexico.
• Enter new Client insurance benefit plans into our software and maintain the integrity and consistency of critical benefits data.
• Audit each client’s group insurance premiums against Insurance Provider’s monthly invoice to ensure no discrepancies.
• Oversee all employee group benefit and 401(k) plans, including conducting internal audit, analysis, reconciliations and providing timely payment of the Insurance Provider Statements.
• Prepare, pay, and post all payroll related and non-related Company-wide Accounts Payables.
• Demonstrate proficiency in highly technical accounting, financial and business database & HRIS application systems.
• Display advanced level proficiency in Excel VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
• Handle account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations.
• Manage general ledger, Microsoft Excel, full cycle payroll, accounts receivable (AR), and accounts payable (AP).
• Show expertise in MS Great Plains Accounting and bank account reconciliation.
Requirements • Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Senior Accountant role or similar
• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations is mandatory
• Proficient experience in handling General Ledger
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel including VLOOKUP and Pivot Table functions
• Experience in Full Cycle Payroll management
• Knowledge of Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) is required
• Familiarity with MS Great Plains Accounting software is a plus
• Experience in Bank Account Reconciliation is highly desirable
• A professional accounting qualification would be an advantage
• Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.
