Senior Staff Applications Engineer

Job Description

The Senior Staff Applications Engineer is a high impact individual contributor position responsible for new and existing product development relating to Application while collaborating with Design, Test, Product Engineering and Marketing to ensure successful product design-in to end applications.

  • Clear and concise communication skills, verbal and written are essential to this position

  • Ability to multi-task between program management and product development

  • Experience with analog and digital circuit analysis, with modelling and simulation tool experience(SIMPLIS, LTSPICE, System Verilog, etc)

  • Experience with multi-phase regulator(Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost), ADC, and able to lead SOC Power Management IC

  • Experience and knowledge with automation utilizing Python or LabView is a plus.

  • Support customer applications and product development to support the sales of RENESAS Portable Power integrated circuits.

  • Provide input and help prototype new product definition.

  • Hands-on experience with lab test and measurement techniques of analog/power management circuits. Lab test and measurement of analog/power management circuits.

  • Experience with cross-team collaboration to drive and influence product planning and validation plan.

  • Direct contact with customers for creating design solutions and troubleshooting system design problems.

Qualifications

  • BSEE or equivalent working experience.

  • 10+ years experience with power management applications in the area of DC-DC, AC-DC and SOC PMIC applications.

  • Strong knowledge of circuit design, power system design and PC based software.

  • Strong Analog circuit design skills and Digital hardware design skills.

  • Strong lab test and measurement skills required to characterize new products and design application circuit solutions.

  • Reasonable proficiency writing simple non-production code in a high level language such as C++, C#, Python

  • Significant experience directing or performing layout of high frequency DC-DC switching converters using Cadence or equivalent software.

  • Experience with serial communication protocols such as I2C.

  • Good writing, technical drawing and verbal communications skills are mandatory for writing product datasheets, documenting lab reports and creating product application notes.

  • Proficient with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, electronic loads, spectrum/network analyzers and other common lab instruments with NI LabView software control.

  • Working knowledge of printed circuit board layout and fabrication as well as electronic assembly practices.
