Fairview Health Services Associate Chaplain in Edina, Minnesota
Overview
This position will be placed at M Health Fairview Southdale hospital in Edina, with on-call responsibilities responding to both Southdale and Ridges hospital in Brunsville.
The Associate Chaplain is the spiritual care specialist of the care team responsible for assessing spiritual care needs and providing direct spiritual care and consultation to patients, families, and staff. Within the Spiritual Health Services (SHS) department, the chaplain serves as a preceptor and mentor to students (e.g., Clinical Pastoral Education residents and interns), along with SHS volunteers, who are authorized to provide ministry on behalf of Fairview. Associate chaplains work with other members of the interdisciplinary team to identify and respond to spiritual and emotional needs.

Providesdirectspiritualcareforpatientsandfamiliesbasedonassessmentofspiritualneedsinclinicalassignmentandduringassignedon-callshifts.
Demonstratesabilitytoprovidecareorserviceadjustingapproachestoreflectdevelopmentallevelandculturaldifferencesofpopulationserved,includingspiritual/religiousinformedcareorservice.
Exercisesskillfullistening,compassionatepresence&clearcommunicationinone-on-one,smallgroup,careconferences,andteammeetings.
Provides/arrangesforprovisionofsacraments/rituals/prayersandintegrativemodalitiesattherequestofpatientsand/orfamilymembersinamanneraligningwiththetraditionsoftheparticularpatient,familymember,orsignificantother.
OrientandmentorCPEinternsandresidentsasapreceptorduringtheirCPEunitstartup.Provideevaluativefeedbackasapartoftheclinicalcoordinatorrolewithintheeducationalprocess.
Providespiritualsupportforhealthcarestaff.
Participateinregularmeetingsofthedepartmentandassignedclinicalareas,includinginterdepartmentalwork.

Required
Education
GraduatedegreeinTheologyfromapprovedtheologicalseminary/university,orcompletionoftraininginmentoredreligioustraditionasdefinedbythatreligioustradition
FourormoreunitsofClinicalPastoralEducation(CPE)accreditedbyAssociationofClinicalPastoralEducation(ACPE)
