The Vice President, OptumRx Pharmacy Care Services People Team will help shape and execute the People Team and talent strategies for Pharmacy Care Services businesses, creating a wealth of opportunity for an experienced HR strategic partner to contribute across a broad range of priorities, including workforce strategy, culture building, labor relations strategy, organization effectiveness, talent agenda, leadership bench strength, and employee experience.

As part of the OptumRx People Team, this role will be aligned to support the rapidly growing OptumRx Pharmacy Care Services suite of companies, which current has over $60B in revenue and over 15,000 employees. The incumbent will leverage extensive organizational development, M&A and leadership experience to help support the organization’s evolution and future growth. As a member of the OptumRx People Team leadership team, the incumbent will also serve as a leader on cross-OptumRx evolution strategies and initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Coaching, development, and stewardship of a high impact People Business Partner team, with a mix of integrated and not-yet-integrated teams

  • Consulting & Coaching: Lead as strategic partner to senior leaders driving people strategies to achieve business outcomes

  • Organizational Effectiveness: Improve the health and effectiveness of the organization through various methods, tools and techniques impacting business results. Examples include organization design, change enablement and leadership, workforce planning, effective leadership, and coaching.

  • Data and Analytics: Leverage data and analytic skills to drive decision making and action. Design, develop, and deploy solutions through on-going analysis and tying multiple data sets together to recommend action aligned with business strategies.

  • Talent Management: Understands the organizational talent strategy, talent plans and supply chain of internal and external talent. Drives business talent strategy and plans by applying talent acquisition, workforce planning, total rewards and inclusion and diversity practices to drive talent outcomes.

  • Mergers & Acquisitions: Lead and provide oversight to due diligence, integration and divestiture activity across the Pharmacy Care Services businesses. Partner with the business and people COE teams to continuously improve the experience and refine our processes

  • Culture and Employee Experience: Deep understanding of culture, diversity and the drivers impacting a positive employee experience. Foster inclusion, diversity, and culture practices to create and maintain a positive, rewarding, and inclusive environment.

  • Business Fluency: Financial understanding and business operations knowledge. Understands how the business unit operates, major categories of cost and how profits are generated. Able to articulate the strategy, customer base and external factors impacting the business.

  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Integrate, align, and embed Inclusion and Diversity Strategy within the people strategy and all aspects of People Team work

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or Behavioral Science or related field or demonstrated equivalency

  • Proven leadership of People teams and commitment to caring for, connecting with and developing all members of the team

  • Experience with mergers & acquisitions, including due diligence, talent assessment, leading organizational design and organizational effectiveness strategies, complex change management, integration and assimilation

  • Experience successfully leveraging COE People Team functions, and partnership within a matrixed (i.e. shared services delivery model) environment at a large, global, complex organization

  • Demonstrated systems thinking including influencing executives in shaping and implementing long-term business strategies aligned with people strategies

  • Significant experience in leading large scale, multi-business organizational effectiveness and change management strategies

  • Demonstrated experience in being a highly influential, disruptive strategic thinker, willing to challenge conventional and siloed thinking, drive change and offer a different viewpoint

  • Demonstrated expertise applying data and analytics to influence decision making and business outcomes

  • Proven successful consulting and interpersonal agility competencies demonstrated across various types of executive stakeholders

  • Experience developing talent strategies and executing plans aligned with the culture and overall employee experience to drive business outcomes; experience with developing and driving labor strategies is a plus

  • Experience demonstrating business fluency and knowledge

  • Experience developing and implementing workforce strategy, aligned with and driving business outcomes

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
