This role is responsible for coordination and administration of Optum/UHG contracts while supporting Contract Management teams, Value Analysis, and necessary Optum leaders. Collaborate with contract managers and internal business units on recommendations to ensure contract compliance and profitability and provide appropriate education to Care Delivery Organizations. Work with necessary internal Procure to Pay teams to ensure correct pricing and contract adherence.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ability to maintain contract management and RFP processes, new opportunity requests, status, and reporting

  • Support Optum leaders by managing payor requests, credentialing, member grievances, attestations, rebill requests, reimbursement appeals, etc., to maximize contract profitability compliance

  • Verify and monitor contracting to ensure appropriate NDAs are in place when sharing any information, creating/redlining contracts and/or SOWs

  • Work with Contracting and Operations teams to implement contracts/programs based on agreed upon services/products

  • Support payor/client relationships including client meetings, invoicing, and addressing opportunities

  • Lead maintenance and organization of contracting repositories and ensure correct contract adherence and pricing within Optum Item Master.

  • Facilitate reporting needs for contracting team leveraging existing tools, working with internal teams and external payors/buyers

  • Communicate with Optum leaders on contract performance, successes, and improvement areas

  • Make recommendations and help in execution of process improvement initiatives for Value Analysis team

  • Participation in special projects as assigned by Optum leaders

  • Apply knowledge and expertise of third party contracting and healthcare industry to assist in educating and supporting Care Delivery Organization teams on pricing or contract adherence issues

  • Collaborate with credentialing specialists to ensure contract compliance

  • Travel regionally to meet with groups to review performance of services and to support business needs

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in healthcare industry

  • 2+ years of experience in payor or account management role for healthcare or retailer

  • Demonstrated experience in successfully identifying, adopting, and leading change initiatives

  • Demonstrated understanding of GPO, Direct, and Local Contract agreements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information

  • Demonstrated competence in developing and delivering innovative solutions to diverse and complex problems

  • Proven ability to gain alignment across multiple parts of the organization and works in collaboration with stakeholders and peer groups

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ERP experience within Health System

  • Project coordination/management experience and effectively prioritize and handle multiple projects and responsibilities

  • High level knowledge and understanding of SQL and databases

  • Proven solid analytical skillsets

  • Proven excellent presentation, organization, oral and written communication skills

  • Proven ability to facilitate/translate strategic business requirements into strategic solutions

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
