System One Network Security Engineer in Eatontown, New Jersey

Network Security Engineer

Job Information:

  • Located in Eatontown, NJ

  • Permanent position, starts our payrolled with staffing firm

  • Industry: Banking and Credit Card Manufacturing

  • Hours/Pay: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Does required being able to respond to after hour emails or problems if needed. This is rare.) Paying $60,000 - $80,000 depending on directly related experience and education.

    Network Security Engineer Responsibilities:

    Network Design and Implementation:

  • When needed, selects and deploys cutting-edge network hardware and software components, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points, tailored to meet organizational needs.

  • Design and implement robust network architectures, encompassing LAN, WAN, and WLAN environments, ensuring scalability and security.

  • Configure and optimize network protocols, routing, and switching protocols to guarantee optimal performance, resilience, and redundancy.

  • Implement stringent network controls, including access control lists (ACLs), VLANs, and port security settings, to safeguard network integrity.

    Security Architecture:

  • Deploys sophisticated security controls, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and access control mechanisms, to fortify network defenses.

  • When needed designs and executes comprehensive security architectures to fortify the organization's network assets against cyber threats and attacks, ensuring data confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

  • Develops, enforce, and continually refine robust security policies, procedures, and standards to uphold security best practices and regulatory compliance.

  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities, assess risks, and ensure adherence to stringent security standards.

    Network Troubleshooting and Optimization:

  • Proactively troubleshoot intricate network issues, leveraging advanced diagnostic tools and methodologies, to swiftly diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks and anomalies.

  • Monitor network traffic, analyze network logs, and swiftly identify and respond to security incidents and breaches to mitigate risks and minimize potential impacts.

  • Implement advanced network monitoring tools and methodologies to detect, analyze, and mitigate network anomalies and threats, ensuring uninterrupted network operations.

    Technology Evaluation and Adoption:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of emerging network technologies, tools, and solutions to enhance network performance, scalability, and security posture.

  • Undertake meticulous research and vendor assessments, ensuring the selection of best-fit technologies that align with organizational objectives and requirements.

    Project Management:

  • Lead and contribute to the successful execution of network infrastructure projects, encompassing upgrades, migrations, and expansions, from inception to completion.

  • Develop detailed project plans, coordinate cross-functional teams, and meticulously manage project timelines and budgets to ensure successful project outcomes.

    Backup and Recovery:

  • Implements robust backup and recovery strategies for network configurations, security policies, and critical data to safeguard against data loss and system failures.

  • Develops and maintains comprehensive backup and recovery procedures, conduct regular testing of disaster recovery plans, and ensure timely restoration of systems in the event of data loss or system outages.

    User Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Provide exceptional user support and troubleshooting for network-related issues, including connectivity problems and performance degradation.

  • Respond promptly to user requests, diagnose complex network problems, and provide effective resolutions, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and escalate unresolved issues to higher-level support teams as needed, facilitating prompt resolution.

    Network Security Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Networking Security, Cyber Security, Information Technology or related field of study from an accredited USA college or university is highly preferred and will factor in determining pay

  • At least two (2) years of prior Networking Security experience from another banking regulated industry is highly preferred. Other highly secured facility experience may be considered.

    Must be familiar with:

  • Firewalls

  • Reporting/Analysis

  • Patches

  • Configuring servers

  • While list

  • STPs

  • Encryption

  • De-encryption

  • PGP Keys
