Job Description A Deputy Sheriff is a sworn and certified law enforcement officer who provides courthouse and courtroom security, transportation of prisoners, and service of court orders and writs. Newly hired employees are paid their base salary to attend extensive training including off-site academy where they will learn all the skills and tools required to be successful in this role. In order to be considered for the Deputy Sheriff position, candidate must be at least 21 years of age, possess a high school diploma (or equivalent), possess a current driver's license with acceptable driving history, and complete an application including COMPLETE contact information for three references. Candidates must manually input their work history into their application and attach a clear picture of their driver's license. Additionally, a written exam and physical agility test must both be passed in order to proceed to interview.
When dates have been determined for the written exam, qualified candidates will be notified via email that they need to schedule their test for one of the available timeslots via our website. The exam lasts three hours, is held onsite in Easton, PA, and is at no cost to applicants. In order to pass the exam, test-taker must be able to read, write, hear, and understand English. They must also be able to see both short distances (to read and write) and long distances (to view test video). Candidates who pass the written exam will be notified when the physical agility test has been scheduled. Candidates who then pass the physical agility test will be referred for an interview. If the hiring manager selects the candidate to proceed with the hiring process, the manager will directly coordinate all remaining pre-employment processes with candidate for the Deputy Sheriff.
