Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Laboratory Assistant 2 Durant Laboratory in Durant, Oklahoma
Job Purpose or Objective(s): Collects and processes patient specimens for lab testing. Obtain and communicate appropriate information concerning patient specimens and reports. Perform waived/moderate testing as deemed competent. You will report to the Laboratory Manager.

Primary Tasks:
You will perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on patients of all ages. Follow sterile procedure appropriate technique and approved collection equipment to obtain required specimens for testing.
Maintain the knowledge necessary to obtain and process specimens from the following age groups: Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescence, Adult and Geriatric.
Label specimens correctly and deliver to proper testing area.
You will process sample for test analysis for waived/moderate tests as deemed competent.
Have workable knowledge and skill in use of the lab information system.
Process all specimens requiring preparation for referral to reference labs.
Perform waived and moderate complex laboratory testing and report results back to ordering provider.
Maintain lab reports files in orderly and proper condition.
Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient and associate information
Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned.
