Group Summary

The Mechatronics, Mirrors and Lighting group specializes in automotive technologies that are driving the future of mobility. Combining a deep systems knowledge to develop unique vehicle access experiences, intelligent visions systems and advanced automotive lighting technologies, MML's expertise light the path to innovation, safety and styling.

About the Role

  • Performs product testing using a variety of methods. Audits products and processes to ensure system compliance with customer requirements/specifications. Uses and understands SPC applications.

  • Leads in-house and/or on-site customer product sorts and re-inspections to resolve quality issues which may require lifting of 40 lbs. or more. Trains operators on off-line part inspection to help contain product quality problems.

  • Issues, maintains and implements activities relating to corrective and/or preventative action. Provides input on causes or reasons for quality problems and recommends process changes if necessary. Assists in and/or leads customer driven root cause analysis processes (i.e. DCAR & 8D).

  • Visually inspects customer part returns and determines disposition on any non-conforming product (i.e. Company or customer origin). Gathers and summarizes data for monthly quality reports.

  • Performs fixture reliability/repeatability analysis to test accuracy of measurement.

  • Reviews scrap with production personnel and performs minor reworks.

Your Responsibilities

  • Understand your overall responsibility to ensure the health and safety for the entire Magna Mirrors – South Carolina. Support and direct EHS to be proactive regarding health and safety initiatives. Ensure employees are given written instructions of the measures and procedures required to protect the employee. Ensure employees are advised of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health or safety of the employee of which the supervisor is aware. Understand your overall responsibility for visitors and general public health and safety in the workplace. Cooperate with OSHA Inspectors. Do not allow discrimination against employees who properly exercise their right under OSHA. Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to set a good example. Ensure that employees wear the appropriate protective devices. Know the safety rules at Magna Mirrors – South Carolina.

  • Understand your responsibility to the environmental programs, including ISO14001. Understand the importance of conformance with all environmental procedures of the environmental management system, including emergency response. Understand the EMS consequences, actual or potential, of their work activities and/or their behaviors from specified work instructions.

  • Understands and follows existing Magna policies, procedures, work instructions and standards and makes recommendations for continuous improvements.

  • Performs other duties as necessary including providing product launch support to Quality Engineers. Properly handles and disposes of any hazardous waste material in respective area

Who we are looking for

  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. as needed.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods of time.

  • Must maintain proper vision requirements

  • Must be able to maintain alertness to their surroundings.

  • Proactive and self-driven personality. Strong organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and deal with many issues at one time.

  • Demonstrated solid written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts and represent the Company in a professional manner

  • Must be able to operate standard and specialized equipment related to the job.

  • Basic computer background with ability to calculate and analyze data, generate reports, present information, etc. (Training available)

Your preferred qualifications

  • High School Diploma

  • 2 Years manufacturing experience (automotive preferred)

  • Current or prior quality experience beneficial

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Able to work in a team environment and independently, if required

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve.
