As Senior Director of Data Engineering , you will be the leader of the Data Architecture and Engineering Capability in our Ireland office that is focused on developing a new, cutting-edge data platform supporting advanced analytics and machine learning models to improve health outcomes for our members. In this strategic and highly visible role, you will be responsible for shaping the direction of our data engineering function focusing on the integration of multiple complex data sources into a data platform with a mix of different infrastructure (i.e. on-prem, cloud) and various data domains (i.e. claim, membership, auth) and tools (i.e. Spark, Hive, HBase, Airflow, etc.). You will be driving our data strategy focused on innovation; developing proofs of concepts that leverage data in new and exciting ways. You'll be in the driver's seat on vital projects that have strategic importance to our mission of helping people live healthier lives. Primary Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the long-term vision and strategic roadmap for the data analytics and engineering organizations, aligning it with overall business objectives

  • Architect and implement a secure, scalable, and future-proof data infrastructure that supports the organization’s growing analytical needs

  • Champion data governance initiatives, ensuring data security, quality, and compliance throughout the data lifecycle

  • Lead and mentor a talented team of data engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning

  • Partner with Data Science and Business Intelligence leaders to design and implement a secure, compliant, and scalable data infrastructure to support the organization’s growing date needs

  • Support and promote common frameworks and best practices in code development, deployment and automation/orchestration of data pipelines

  • Oversee the deliverables assigned to the data architecture team, ensuring accurate, concise documentation of the code base including data ingestion an enrichment pipelines

  • Partner with Technology and Infrastructure leaders on architecture approaches to advance the data and analytics platform, including exploring new tools that leverage the cloud environment

  • Drive and influence data engineering migration efforts from on-premises solutions to cloud

  • Drive a performance-driven culture, setting clear goals and measuring results

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or business administration

  • Proven experience in guiding IT strategy to help a broader business organization to meet its goals and objectives

  • Proven track record of leading high-performing data engineering and analytics organizations preferably at the healthcare industry

  • Thorough understanding of data architecture, data governance, and data security principles

  • Proven track record working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), big data technologies (Snowflake, Scala, Spark, PySpark, etc.)

  • Systematic understanding of DevOps principles and CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins, CircleCI)

  • Exceptional leadership qualities, including strategic thinking, problem-solving, cross team collaboration, decision-making and influencing abilities

  • Executive presence and the ability to represent the data engineering and architecture function effectively across the organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other technology related fields

  • Healthcare industry knowledge and experience with exposure to EDI, HIPAA, HL7 and FHIR integration standards

  • Cloud and data engineering certifications

  • Data virtualization tools and technology experience with tools like such Python Dash, Tableau, R-shiny, etc.

  • Experience building statistical models using SAS or R

  • ML and/or AI model development and deployment
