Howmet Aerospace Production Worker (Etcher - 3rd Shift) in Dover, New Jersey

Howmet Aerospace is currently looking an Etcher to join our Howmet Casting located in Dover, New Jersey. The work hours for this Midnight Shift are Sunday Night - Thursday Night 10:30p - 7:00a. Training would occur Monday - Friday 6:30A - 3:00P.

New Hire Starting Hourly Rate: $23.95; After 12 Months: $26.43

Position will receive an hourly "shift premium" while assigned to an off-shift.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Etcher’s are responsible to dipping the castings in a chemical sequence to clean the metal. This is a certified position requiring 400 hours of training.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Expected to assist in the implementation of Alcoa/Howmet’s EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles.

• Comply with all department, facility, Corporate and Regulatory EH&S regulations.

• Wear all required personal protective equipment.

• Report all job related illness and injuries. (Per employee handbook).

• Report all Safety, Health & Environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.

• Attend all EH&S training.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Tests acid to ensure its strength is with in specifications using test plates at the beginning of each shift.

• Loads castings into racks and baskets to prepare parts for the etching process.

• Dips racks/baskets into ferric acid and water tanks to prep grain for inspection.

• Unloads parts from the racks/baskets to get them ready to be oven dried.

• Places parts into the hot air oven to dry for inspection.

• Records data on parts for company records using the Lot Trace System.

• Replaces acid to maintain acid strength using pumps and drums when the acid is weak.

• Swabs rework parts to ensure that acid solutions can adhere to the parts using a swab and ferric acid solution when rework parts arrive on etch line.

• Verifies the number of parts to ensure it matches the ticket in the Lot Trace System.

• Moves parts to crystal verification to continue the flow of the parts.

• Must become certified to remain in position

• Assuring all equipment are in proper working condition.

• Performing system capability checks as specified in the prescribed method display board

• Operator must score 100% on the practical test

INTERPERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Has daily contact with employees in their own and other departments as well as management in other departments. Occasional contact is had with business representatives as well as auditors.

SUPERVISION

Under the direct supervision of the shift group leader, department supervisor and manufacturing manager. The Etcher does not have supervisory responsibility for any other employees, however, he or she may be asked occasionally to train new employees.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

• E mployees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

• High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution

• No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Candidates residing within a 50 miles radius of Dover NJ will only be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)

• Must be able to work flexible hours including night and weekends with little advanced notice

• Experience working with chemicals a plus

• Must be able to (after proper training) pass a Level I certification test after 420 hours.

• Must pass a visual exam.

• Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds

• Hot manufacturing work environment
