Job Description Summary
The Grid Automation EHS specialists lead owns and coordinates the EHS operations and is single point of contact to the cluster on his/her site or geographies assigned. He/she assumes the responsibilities of all EHS activities inside these projects or tenders in accordance with the EHS strategy and policy of the business.
The Lead EHS Specialist will be responsible for full implementation of the GE standards, Guidelines, and procedures at customer project sites of GULF Cluster, based in Qatar covering Qatar, Kuwait & Iraq. The lead EHS Specialist reports direct line to the Regional EHS leader of the region.

Roles and Responsibilities
Fully compliance and coverage of Framework 3.0
Promote workplace safety & and assists in the development, maintenance, and management of EH&S programs at customer project site(s) by following proactive incident and illness prevention, Contractor safety management, Electrical Safety & LOTO (Lockout Tagout) process management.
Lead by example for others and provide full and active commitment in the deployment of the GE EHS Policy and compliance to site EHS rules.
Collaborates with projects and service team to achieve the yearly Grid Automation EHS KPIs by actively involving in pro-active EHS control measures like: Conducting EHS Audits; Develop EHS Plans, Procedures & Risk Assessments; Training employees on relevant EHS procedures; Investigating and analysis of Incidents & Accidents; Effective communication of Lessons Learnt & periodic updates.
Ensure compliance with EHS-Risk Portfolio Program.
Support the Inquiry-To-Order (ITO or Sales/Tendering) team in assessing the EHS risks & provide corresponding mitigation plan.
Organize periodic EHS trainings like Induction training, Job specific EHS Trainings, safety stand-downs & EHS Campaigns
Coordinate with Sourcing and Project team in onboarding the new Contractors.
Support in Monthly EHS Reporting for the GULF Cluster.
Ensure regulatory compliance for the sites, by ensuring any required permits, reporting and policies are in place and current.
Follow up and support to close ATS findings, employee concerns, Gensuite compliance calendar tasks.
Implement / modify related environmental programs and procedures to ensure compliance.
Provide expert advice, guidance, and direct assistance to ensure site compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, guidelines, and permit requirements.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED)
Minimum of 8 years EHS experience in project execution/construction environment
Locally or internationally recognized professional EHS qualification, like NEBOSH ICC or ICG
Expert knowledge of local EHS legislation
Good knowledge of Microsoft office, web-based tools, smart sheet.
Experience with and knowledge of independent standards organizations and certification programs such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
Fluent English skills and Arabic (written and spoken)
Flexibility to travel 50% to 60% of the time with a focus on Qatar, Kuwait and Iraq sites.

Good knowledge and understanding of local rules/regulations framework, interactions between authorities.
