What You'll Do

The Product Manager is responsible for delivering valuable and viable solutions in partnership with the product teams for products within Benefits and Protection Distribution, focusing on Principal Financial Network (PFN) and Principal Securities Inc. (PSI) initiatives. They are responsible for driving the strategy via delivery of the product backlog. They partner effectively with product team disciplines to drive to outcomes. They demonstrate curiosity, flexibility, and motivation to gain exposure and experience in all phases of the product lifecycle. Some responsibilities include:

  • Executing on the PFN/PSI product strategies.

  • Make decisions to enable the team to deliver quickly. Be comfortable not having all of the answers. Make small bets and embrace experimentation.

  • Finding opportunities/problems to solve and articulating hypotheses.

  • Leading the product team (design, engineering, and various business roles) in ideating and running experiments.

  • Delivering positive outcomes as part of a product team(s) by assessing value of experiments, collaborating to draw out insights, and sharing findings with key partners and stakeholders.

Who You Are

We are looking for someone with:

  • 4+ years of business, technology, or product management experience; or equivalent demonstrated through the following: work experience, training, military experience, or education.

  • Demonstrated experience managing 1 or multiple products.

  • Demonstrated experience with strategic thinking, collaboration and decision making in a product environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple workloads and/or competing priorities.

  • Demonstrated experience leading, influencing, and negotiating in a product environment.

  • Demonstrated experience leveraging diverse perspectives and use of customer, user, or partner data and insights to inform decisions and actions.

  • At least 2 years working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment with engineering teams and stakeholders

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$95200 - $182400 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
