Birdon America Inc Welder Inspector I - III in Denver, Colorado
POSITION OVERVIEW
Weld Inspector is responsible for inspecting and assessing the quality and strength of welding work. Their job is to ensure welds are safe and ready to function as part of the device or structure. Welding inspectors also inspect the equipment used and ensure welders adhere to company and state safety regulations.
This is a hands-on position that requires close and effective working relationship with Manufacturing.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Weld Inspector is responsible for:
Review, Compile or Complete product deliverables including Contract deliverables, Certificates of Conformance, Tool Inspection Reports, First Article Inspection Reports, etc. Develop, apply, and maintain quality requirements, standards, and inspection reports for manufacturing products and processes. Perform in-process and final inspections on products/projects as necessary. Evaluate completed welding work or work in progress to ensure that it complies with the applicable codes and standards. Perform inspections in accordance with AWS D1.2. Support Birdon's Quality Management System Reporting quality anomalies to the supervisor. Ensuring production is not hindered by quality testing procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES
Required:
High school diploma or GED. 1-2 years of directly related quality weld inspection experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Read and understand applicable ISO, AS, SAE, AWS, ASTM and similar quality and process standards. Experience in drafting reports and collecting data. Ability to understand and inspection of MIG welded parts as defined by specifications, ability interpret weld symbols and interpret technical information. Excellent written and verbal communications for presenting and team facilitation skills including customer interaction. Understanding of mathematical concepts and possess a high-level of visual awareness. Experience drafting reports and collecting data. Ability to analyze and interpret technical information.
Preferred:
Aluminum weld inspection experience. Ability to understand and perform pressure testing and NDT such as Dye Pen.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment where exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp cutting tools, dust, fumes and airborne particles, temperature extremes and elevated noise level. Employees must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and or move more than 75 pounds. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to strand, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protection and work boots.
