Position Summary

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Denver (DU) is building an academically and culturally diverse faculty and staff who teach and work in a supportive environment surrounded by people with a strong commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). We invite applications for two nine-month tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in Computer Science, with particular interest in applicants who have strengths in algorithms, artificial intelligence, computer science education, games, human-computer/robot interaction (HCI/HRI), natural language processing, robotics, security and privacy, or software engine

We seek exceptional teacher-scholars committed to developing or enhancing a robust research portfolio; delivering innovative, hands-on learning experiences; and authentically supporting our DEI mission. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to their discipline through scholarly and creative activities that fall within Boyer's four types of scholarship: (1) discovery, (2) application, (3) integration, and (4) teaching and learning. Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment.
  • Research record of publications that connect to your proposed research agenda and that indicates funding potential commensurate with appointment level, research area, background, and experience.
  • Ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer Science as evidenced by background or teaching experience.
  • Ability to collaborate with other departmental, school, and university researchers.
  • Evidence indicating the potential for integration of DEI into teaching, research, or service. Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on inter-disciplinary problems that contribute to the public good.

  • Evidence of integrating DEI into research and/or service.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with inclusive teaching methods and/or pedagogies to effectively engage broadly diverse student populations and historically underrepresented groups in computer science.
