Oracle Sr Software Engineer - Data Center Engineering Analytics & Modeling (DCEAM) in Denver, Colorado

Job Description

The Data Center Engineering Analytics & Modeling (DCEAM) organization is responsible for delivering business intelligence by combining platform hardware design and data center infrastructure engineering with data science (business analytics, data mining, data visualization, data tools and infrastructure) to enable data-driven data center design, deployment, and operation decisions. This will enable a comprehensive view of the organization’s data to drive change, eliminate inefficiencies and quickly adapt to market or supply changes. This IC3 Software Engineer role will be instrumental in the creation of a service delivery model that prioritizes self-service analysis that is based on governed data on trusted platforms that empowers users and speed-to-insight.

Responsibilities

Lead software engineering responsibilities for the DCEAM organization that include the following:

  • Coordinate across organizations and their own teams to manage the development and release of software solutions that address DCEAM priorities

  • Work closely with DCEAM mechanical engineers and data scientists to develop requirements and scope software solutions

  • Partner with Oracle Hardware solutions delivery teams to migrate software developed for DCEAM to larger platforms to be used by larger audiences

  • Work closely with DCEAM TPM resources to develop project schedules to ensure timely completion and alignment with program objectives

  • Develop ETLs, Data Pipelines, and Software Solutions that support DCEAM objectives

Play an active role in Data Analytics deliverables that include:

  • Establish proper data collection and analytical faculties to derive actionable insights for DC operations, Oracle hardware, OCI capacity, DC build, DC Engineering organizations

  • Support DCEAM data scientists to develop strategic solutions using periodic data analysis

  • Support non-data teams with the development of easy-to-use visualization tools

  • Develop analytical and numerical models for developing predictive analytics capabilities via internal and external applications

Other responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Communicate clearly and succinctly insights and actions derived from analyses to a variety of audiences and forums; from presentations to executive leadership to standardized reporting.

  • Partner with solutions delivery organizations to standardize and automate reporting and data inquiries as well as defining customer requirements for scalable software solutions to be utilized by OHD and OCI organizations

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years in software development

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Python: A solid understanding of Python syntax, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming principles is crucial.

  • Web Development: Experience with web frameworks like Django or Flask for building server-side logic and APIs is preferred

  • Database: Knowledge of relational databases (SQL) and potentially NoSQL databases is essential for managing and interacting with data.

  • Version Control: Familiarity with Git and other version control systems is necessary for collaborative development and code management.

  • Front-end Technologies: A basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript can be beneficial for collaborating with front-end developers and understanding the full stack.

  • Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud can be an added advantage.

  • Testing: Knowledge of unit testing, integration testing, and other testing methodologies is important for ensuring code quality.

  • Debugging and Troubleshooting: Proven ability to identify and resolve issues in software.

  • Experience in Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) and Oracle Application Express (APEX) preferred

  • Self-starter mentality; thrives in unfamiliar territory

  • Attention to detail, structured and creative thinking

  • Proven experience organizing and engaging with stakeholders across matrixed organizations

  • Experience in Data Center Operations preferred

Additional Description and Job Requirements

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work can be formed remotely but may require some travel to visit OCI data centers and/or development centers.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $97,500 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
