We are seeking 8 dedicated greenhouse workers to assist with nursery stock (excluding shrubs and trees). The role involves executing both manual and mechanized tasks related to the production of greenhouse plants and various horticultural products. Key responsibilities include: - Planting, cultivating, and maintaining nursery stock, bedding plants, plugs, liners, hanging baskets, and other horticultural varieties. - Propagating plants through cuttings. - Planting and potting seedlings, filling and labeling trays, and moving products to and from greenhouses and loading/unloading areas. - Crimping wire baskets, attaching hangers, and hanging them throughout the holding houses. - Using rolling and electric carts to move containerized plants, as well as unloading and loading trucks and products from conveyor belts. - Installing and removing plastic coverings as needed. - Keeping work areas clean and well-maintained. Additional duties include: - Pruning, trimming, and performing general plant maintenance. - Watering or irrigating plants and applying fertilizers or other chemicals. - Maintaining irrigation systems, including moving and installing irrigation pipes and equipment, digging ditches, and installing/removing levee gates. - Counting, inventorying, and grading plants and trees. - Packing, labeling, tagging, sorting, and storing plants by variety. - Applying pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other crop protectants. - Performing a variety of manual tasks including mowing, cutting, weeding, ditching, shoveling, and ground preparation. Physical requirements include bending, stooping, and kneeling, along with the ability to lift and carry products or supplies. Proficiency with hand tools such as hoes, shovels, shears, clippers, loppers, and saws is necessary. Candidates should also be willing to assist with farm building and field maintenance and repairs, including fence repair. This position will take place in Delaware County, Ohio.
