Defiance County Engineer County Highway and Maintenance Person (CHAMP) in Defiance, Ohio
*POSITION TITLE: * County Highway and Maintenance Person I (CHAMP I)
*CIVIL SERVICE STATUS: * Classified (Bargaining Unit)
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
* Pay Range: * $22.50 to start depending on qualifications,
* *up to $28.90 possible after 3 years with merit
(Effective 3/02/2023) per Union Agreement
JOB OBJECTIVES: Under the general supervision of the Operations Deputy or Assistant, perform labor tasks for the maintenance, construction and repair of county roads, bridges and culverts using hand tools to heavy equipment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent
An acceptable driving record with ability to obtain a State of Ohio Class A CDL.
Relevant experience in general roadway maintenance and/or experience in the operation of medium to heavy duty trucks is a plus.
Overtime may be required and is a condition of continued employment.
A telephone for call out is required.
Pre-Employment drug screen required.
