Ford Motor Company System Integration Engineer- Body Controls in Dearborn, Michigan

In this position:

Ford Zonal Software team is responsible for developing the zonal software to control the in-vehicle body hardware, such as lighting, seats, climate, locks, windows and more. By joining the team, you will be a part of the creating new technologies and concepts for the next generation of the Ford vehicles.

The System Integration Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end integration and bring-up of software to work with zonal hardware and eventually to integrate into a vehicle. The engineer will identify and resolve interface issues, both externally between ECUs and internally between software layers. You will be involved in HiL, Breadboard, Yellow board and other integration and/or testing activities.

What you'll do…

  • Lead the integration efforts and software bring-up on various test assets such as Q2, HiL, Breadboard and Yellow board.

  • Lead issue initial trouble shooting and triage.

  • Interface with software development teams and feature teams to identify changes.

  • Collaborate with hardware teams, testing teams to support integration effort.

  • Provide support to duplicate issues, take logs, and issue tracking.

  • Working with suppliers to debug hardware and software issues.

  • Managing hardware variants for trims and programs.

You'll have…

  • B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer or Software Engineering or related degree; or foreign equivalency degree, or a combination of equivalent experience and education.

  • Must have technical expertise in mirrors, windows, lighting, climate or other body control systems with motors, actuators, sensors, etc.

  • 5+ years of experience on embedded (C) software development and/or validation with real hardware.

  • Ability to read/debug code, familiar with Git, Jira and software development lifecycle

  • Working experience with Vehicle network Protocols, such as CAN, LIN and Automotive Ethernet

  • Familiar with tools, such as CANoe, CANalyzer, Wireshark, Radmoon.

  • Knowledge of basic electrical peripherals, such as SPI, IIC, High-side driver, Low-side driver, H-Bridge.

  • Experienced with AUTOSAR architecture and embedded RTOS.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • M.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer or Software Engineering, or foreign equivalency degree, or combination of equivalent experience and education

  • Full stack development and integration experience, from prove of concept, requirement analysis, software design and implementation, to hardware / software integration and product launch.

  • Familiar with TCP/UDP, and SOME/IP is preferred.

  • Experience in simulating sensors, actuators

  • Experience with hardware variants management for different vehicle programs and trims.

  • Experience with vehicle manufacturing and EOL process.
