Ford Motor Company PD Modeling Engineer in Dearborn, Michigan

MSE Engineer collaborates on tasks as part of a larger development effort to develop models of Features, Platform Systems and User Experience using corporate modeling techniques to ensure performance to spec.

MSE Engineer is a key role in the first stages of Feature development, ensuring a high-quality design supported by virtual verification methods.

MSE Engineer is a Team Leader that coordinates people to ensure the delivery.

  • Participation in process and tool reviews to identify appropriate industry standard SysML and MBD development practices to support feature, platform system and user experience modeling in the following areas:
  1. Capturing and documenting business, feature development, functional safety and testing requirements

  2. Translating and architecting feature requirements into executable system designs

  3. Developing interfaces between objects/classes

  4. Specifying system level requirements

  • Ensure Model Based Design systems align with production launch objectives.

  • Interface with Core Feature Owners and external development partners to communicate and coordinate modeling process.

  • Ensure that forward Model teams have the necessary tools, skills and resources to deliver new features.

  • Early validation of Feature proposal and re-design as needed.

  • Core activities: How To’s and Guidelines creation, Process definition and update, Scripts creation and improvement, Global model examples development. MBSE model owner responsible for leading model development for new features or application of legacy features at the systems engineering level.

  • Coordinates model use and ownership across multiple Integrated Product Teams

  • Design and build specifications (SysML), models (physics) and advanced simulations (multiple frameworks) of modules, actuators, controls and sensors.

  • Guides model structure and key model focus areas.

  • Develop and lead automated data validation/consistency scripts.

  • Develop and present review packages to internal and external senior leadership.

  • Develop refinements to process, method and engineering tool standards.

  • Collaborate with product engineers to improve how we virtually validate solutions against real-world application benchmarks for quality and robustness.

  • Develop and integrate to support MIL/SIL/HIL environments.

  • Experience with SysML, UML, UPDM, and other modeling languages

  • Experience with modeling tools such as Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw, Gherkin, Rhapsody System and/or Software editions, MATLAB, or SIMULINK

  • Knowledge of vehicle components functions

  • Able to work flexibly across multiple disciplines.

  • Strong leadership and technical skills to lead cross-functional teams and align stakeholders.

  • The desire to be part of, and contribute to, a team with a proven ability to work cross-functionally with designers, coders, integrators and business teams.

  • Strong listening, written, and oral communication skills

  • Ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical addressees

  • Ambition and the ability to be self-directed

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • 3+ years of experience in Systems Engineering preferably in Automotive domain

  • 3+ years of proven working experience in Software engineering – embedded

  • 3+ years of work experience in Agile project involvement

  • 2+ years of Prototyping experience

  • 2 years Code quality tools (42Crunch, SonarQube, CheckMarx, etc.…)

  • 2 years GIT hub, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle and CI/CD tools.

  • 3 years Programming in C / C++ / Python

  • Experience in Google Automotive SDK.

  • Experience progressing customer use-cases and concepts through design, architecture, development, testing and integration cycles.

  • Automotive domain experience in component-level system design and integration using automotive network technologies (LIN, CAN, Ethernet), networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, IPv4/6), in-vehicle embedded telematics technology, body & security electronic systems architecture.

  • Experience in Connected Cars / Automated Driving / Electric Vehicle areas in architecture, design, implementation system integration phases

  • Knowledge of Autosar software stack, domain controller architecture, software defined architecture.

  • Knowledge of communication protocols like MQTT, gRPC, SOME/IP.

  • Hands-on technical role engaged in developing, implementing, and supporting software applications.

  • Knowledge of MISRA coding standards

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent work experience

  • Experience with systems engineering processes in support of system life cycle development.

  • Experience in developing physically and empirically based models/simulations to verify that proposed concepts and strategies meet the requirements

  • Familiarity with ASPICE, ISO 26262 and SAE standards

  • Familiarity with Domain controller and distributed systems

  • Familiarity with Connected Vehicle distributed systems.

  • Familiarity with embedded automotive development boards (Renesas, NXP etc..).
