Materials Engineer
Job Description
Manage materials used in automotive body exterior installed assemblies or systems.
Possess in-depth knowledge in one or more basic materials such as resins, elastomers, metals, and fluids.
Understand the compatibility of these materials with secondary operations like painting, rubber bonding, and electroplating.
Develop and maintain global material and performance specifications, evaluate and approve supplier products to these specifications.
Direct suppliers in the development and application of appropriate materials.
Support material cost reduction initiatives.
Review, provide input, correct, and approve engineering drawings and bill of materials for Teamcenter Notices.
Collaborate with the product team to understand and evaluate exterior non-sheet metal components for future use in new programs.
Engage in discussions, research options, and provide guidance for the product development team.

Work Site
This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Dearborn, Michigan and some days remote.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role, with onsite work required from Tuesday to Thursday. The individual will work in a lab environment that includes about 100 people, including 20% UAW employees, during onsite days. The working hours are traditional first shift with no overtime expected
