ROUSH Instrumentation Technician I in Dearborn, Michigan

The Instrumentation Technician I will install test equipment in development vehicles such as thermocouples, transducers, sensors, fiberoptics, accelerometers. The role will build, modify, adjust and calibrate installed devices. This role will build and install low voltage wire harnesses to drawings and schematics. The Instrumentation Technician I will be mentored and supported by team members on project work and customer interactions.

 

As an Instrumentation Technician I, you will be responsible for:

  • Building and installing low voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring harnesses, auxiliary battery and electrical systems

  • Installing, adjusting and calibrating sensors, shunts, fiber optics, accelerometers and data acquisition systems

  • Collaborating with customers, fabricators, and mechanics to identify required locations for sensor installation according to Instrumentation Requirement List (IRL)

  • Assisting in performing complete functional inspection and prove-out of instrumentation according to Instrumentation Quality Assurance (IQA)

  • Diagnosing faulty low voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring systems and repair

  • Working with electronic functional and measurement tools, such as power supplies, function generators, and multimeter

  • Maintaining records by entering notes into service repair requests

  • Keeping shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs

  • Participating in daily shop organization and clean-up

To be considered as an Instrumentation Technician I, you will need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid driver’s license 

  • Must have your own tools and a rolling tool box

  • Able to follow procedures or work instructions provided for assigned projects, such as work

requests, shop procedures and shop manuals, publications or schematic diagrams

  • Good organizational skills and works well independently and as part of a team

  • Good communication and time management skills

  • Able to work overtime and weekends

  • Good attention to detail

A successful candidate may also have:

  • 2 years of mechanical experience

  • Certificate in Automotive Technology or related

  • Knowledge of proper installation of thermocouples

  • National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s)

  • State Mechanic Certification(s)
