This role is responsible for leading as well as mentoring less senior technicians on collecting data, using specialized equipment, control software, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems. This role will also lead and mentor others on diagnosis of the unit on test, and the complete experimental setup, to ensure operational efficiency and data quality. Senior team members are also expected to Interpret data and provide feedback to requestors. This position is located in Dearborn, MI.As an Automotive Laboratory Technician Senior, you will:Lead and mentor others on execution of test procedures, while collecting high quality data, using specialized equipment which may include: dynamometers, cylinder combustion analyzers, exhaust emissions analyzers, flow meters, force actuators and load cells, environmental chambers, or various material property measurement equipmentSupport diagnosis and issue resolution for the unit on test, equipment control software, instrumentation, data acquisition systems, or facilitiesWork directly with Engineers to operate at experimental conditionsSupport installation of test units, mounting fixtures, instrumentation, fluid connections, and electrical connectionsPerform regular maintenance, replace parts, and request shop suppliesMaintain accurate records of unit on test, tests run, maintenance, and part changesSupport calibration and maintenance of test equipment for ISO complianceTo be considered an Automotive Laboratory Technician Senior, you will need:High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years experience in an automotive environmentMinimum of 3 year mechanical, instrumentation, electrical, or fabrication in a testing environmentGood MS Office skills specifically with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and flexibility to learn new skillsExcellent communication skills, written and verbalStrong knowledge of test procedures, equipment, and data acquisition systems used in testing vehicles, engines, fuels systems, emissions, components, or material properties Strong ability to diagnose issues with complete test setupGood ability to interpret collected data and provide supporting feedback to Engineers A successful candidate may also have:Associate's Degree or Technical School certification5 years experience testing vehicles, powertrains, engines, fuel systems, emissions, chassis components, or material propertiesExperience operating or calibrating emissions analyzers, flow meters, or tensile test machinesExperience with in-cylinder pressure measurement and combustion analyzers Experience with Siemens LMS TestLab o
