DeRuwe Inc Irrigator and Pesticide Applicator in Dayton, Washington

Wildlife Habitat Management/Maintenance

Unique opportunity to work outdoors, in local recreational areas, where you will be performing a variety of maintenance tasks related to wildlife habitat management and maintaining park facilities. In this position you will be working independently, taking primary responsibility for care and maintenance of each location.

 

Company

You will be working for DeRuwe Inc., a small family operation, that has had the contract for care and maintenance of local habitat areas such as Chief Timothy HMU and Hells Gate HMU for 30 years. We take pride in the work we do and the care we provide. We typically employ between 7 and 10 employees who have been with us for a range of 1 to 30 years. This position will typically be for 10 months between February and December and in some years can provide year-round employment.

 

We will provide the initial training to be able to perform the necessary tasks required in the job and provide a company truck to travel between locations. A requirement for the position to acquire a commercial pesticide license and a boaters safety card within 2 -- 3 weeks of hire. We will provide the materials necessary to study and prepare for the test as well as pay for testing.

 

Description

The purpose of the position is to create and maintain wildlife habitat that promotes animal welfare and maintain the public areas and facilities. Some of the primary activities will include the following.

  • Irrigation of habitat
  • Noxious weed control
  • Goose nesting maintenance
  • Tree planting
  • Quail roosting nesting
  • General cleaning of grounds and facilities

     

Requirements

  • Have a valid drivers license (insurable driver)
  • Be able to obtain a commercial pesticide license and boaters safety card (Assistance with both)
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision on a regular basis
  • The ability to do manual labor (backpack spraying, tree planting, etc.)

Wages/Benefit

The wage range for this position will be between $17.00 and $24.00 per hour. Attainment of pesticide license will result in a wage increase. No benefits are currently provided besides those regarding sick leave required by the State of Washington.
