BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The Purchasing Planning Manager is responsible for managing Supply Planners and activities to achieve corporate service level and inventory turn goals. Provides end to end supply chain expertise and leadership to help plan and execute comprehensive supply planning initiatives. Responsible for working with multiple cross-functional partners to improve inventory planning and execution to best-in-class levels of performance. Ensure processes and practices are in place to maintain the highest levels of fulfillment capability at the lowest possible cost.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Oversees and coordinates a multitude of import and domestic supply chain management functions.

· Develops systems understanding of forecasting and planning software to enhance and flow product from forecast, to purchase order transmission, acknowledgement, expediting, and apply analytical skills to safety stock levels and anticipated demand as it relates to the sales forecast and vendors order flow capabilities.

· Applies internal/external benchmarking and best practice studies to supply chain process and practices to create best-in-class levels of performance.

· Performs all duties/responsibilities pertaining to supplier management including forecasting, placing orders, maintaining inventory levels to maximize the amount of inventory turns for assigned suppliers, processing receiving exceptions, ensuring timeliness of product delivery and the quality of the product delivered through frequent interaction with vendors and product managers, and reviewing supplier performance and meets with suppliers to address issues and negotiate improvement opportunities and follow up steps.

· Analyzes and recommends opportunities for promotional, pallet or bulk buys.

· Develops and implements purchasing business plans that will meet purchasing customer service goals, corporate profit goals and return on equity goals including but not limited to fill rate, stocking & replenishment strategies, inventory turns, backorders and exceptions.

· Develops and maintains inventory management documents for the team, providing visibility to performance trends and areas at risk.

· Assesses quality of current customer fulfillment experience and develops and implements improvement strategies and metrics.

· Leads operational performance reviews with key Suppliers and drives supply chain compliance. Discuss and review supplier performance relative to goal and negotiate improvement opportunities and follow up steps.

· Trains, develops, and mentors Purchasing Analysts and Senior Purchasing Analysts. Creates a highly empowered, motivated, well-trained, and effective staff capable of performing all necessary functions and capable of playing a key role in company metric and performance goals. Sets developmental goals accordingly for those geared for future advancement and for poor performers.

· Analyzes, reviews, and finalizes buyer sourcing decisions. Evaluates the cost effectiveness (profitability) of issuing distribution center transfers and authorizes such transfers as appropriate.

· Reviews and approves purchase orders and opportunity buys for high-dollar purchase orders in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.

· Continuously recommends and makes decisions regarding new processes, programs, procedures, and analysis points as the business constantly grows and develops.

· Builds strong cross-functional working relationships inclusive of Sales Teams, Category Management, Asia Procurement Office, Customer Care, Accounting, Sales Operations, and Customer Fulfillment Centers to enhance the purchasing process.

· Improves profitability by cost reduction purchases, cost avoidance, and process improvements on a cross-functional basis.

· Develops and implements training programs as needed.

· Consistently provides best-in-class customer service to internal and external customers.

· Ability to foster, manage and leverage relationships at varying levels internally & externally up to the executive level.

· Leads and manages supply chain projects, initiatives, and tactical project teams within the Inventory management group as well as cross-functionally within the organization.

· Ability to create senior management ready presentations to discuss findings and insight.

· Performs all duties inherent in the position of MSC Manager as defined by the MSC Code of Conduct including hiring, termination, review, and development of associates.

· Attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences to learn about new industry trends

· Drives the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.

· Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

· A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related field preferred or equivalent experience required.

· Minimum of five years of experience in supply planning, demand planning, or other supply chain related field and minimum of two years of leadership / management experience, required.

· Experience with Supply Chain Management software systems required.

· Experience in leading and motivating cross-functional teams required.

· APICs Certified in Planning & Inventory Management preferred

SKILLS:

· MS Office Suite proficiency required; MS Excel Intermediate skill level (creating and modifying spreadsheets and using complex functions, and filters and graphs to analyze and manipulate data) or above required.

· Proficiency with Blue Yonder Demand or Supply Chain modules preferred.

· In depth knowledge of descriptive statistics and purchasing theory are required.

· Excellent organizational and planning skills are required.

· Strong negotiation and follow up skills are required.

· Excellent time management skills required. Experienced in setting priorities and meeting deadlines within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

· Strong aptitude in data analysis, root cause identification, and problem solving with demonstrated experience turning data into actionable insights.

· Ability to think and perform in a both strategic and tactical space, concurrently required.

· Self-motivated and able to work independently or in a group.

· Ability to network and build strong relationships.

· Ability to manage multiple, complex projects, changing priorities, make sound business decisions and work effectively in a team environment.

· Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate and present effectively at all levels of the organization as well as with external vendors.

· Ability to be a part of a team, set challenging standards, develop strong partnerships, and lead others to action.

· Experience with interviewing, hiring, training, coaching and disciplinary actions.

· Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate details clearly and effectively.

· Detail-oriented, fact-based, self-motivated and ability to work under pressure.

· Strong leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent working knowledge of supply chain management.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

· A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Compensation starting at $100000 - $120000 depending on experience.

The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate’s relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
