  • Responsible for working closely with internal American Airlines customers to understand their business needs, and represents the company in negotiations and business transactions with suppliers.

  • Develop and promote strategic partnerships with suppliers who support American’s material and service requirements for maintenance

  • The role is a part of the Supply Chain Team within our Technical Operations Procurement group.

  • Represent the company in business transactions with internal and external organizations

  • Identify and implement opportunities and strategies to minimize supplier cost for parts and services

  • Identify, negotiate, establish and manage supply and service agreements

  • Monitor, track and influence supplier performance

  • Help manage and meet departmental goals

  • Develop and promote strategic partnerships with suppliers

  • Work closely with internal American Airlines customers and stakeholders to understand business needs, objectives, product/service requirements and the broader operational processes

  • Measure and track supplier performance for the commodity; resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion

  • Identify opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience/training

  • 1+ years experience in Supply Chain related fields or relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Supply Chain Management

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • A potential team leader with strong communication skills

  • Understanding of supply chain concepts, with work or internship experience applying those concepts

  • Negotiating and influencing skills

  • Self-directed and resourceful with the ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks with exhibited follow through and initiative

  • Business understanding, particularly in project management, early supplier involvement, total cost management and financial analysis

  • Understanding and use of technical tools for analysis, problem solving, forecasting and quality improvement

  • High ethical standards

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
